Frequently
Asked Questions
Who is your typical client? Am I a good fit?
Our clients have worked diligently throughout their career, and have accumulated wealth in a variety of ways—from Entrepreneurs who sold business interests, professionals who saved over a lifetime, to those who have received money because of a gift or change in marital status.
If you answer “YES” to the following questions, we’re here to help:
- Are you 55 years or older?
- Are you planning for Retirement, Financial Independence, OR currently retired?
- Do you have a minimum of $1,000,000 in investable assets?
- Do you want to enjoy time with family, friends and hobbies and outsource your investment management and financial planning to a professional?
Do we need to prepare anything for our first meeting?
After we’ve had our discovery call, we ask that you please provide recent investment statements prior to the meeting so we can generate a portfolio analysis and obtain a comprehensive picture of your strategy, portfolio risk, and asset allocation.
We then review the results together. This exercise will assess whether the portfolio is properly diversified and ensure it is aligned with your risk profile.
How will you communicate with me and how often?
As a new client, we will speak weekly getting your financial plan established. From there, our service model is designed to keep us in touch. We typically meet with clients in person or virtually 2-3 times a year. We also reach out quarterly by way of phone, email, or mail with valuable insights and updates. Examples include reviewing beneficiaries across all accounts or presenting you with a Portfolio Analysis and market commentary.
Additionally, we send a monthly e-newsletter covering timely financial planning and investment-related topics that are relevant to your overall financial picture. Client education is a big focus for our firm. You are always welcome to call us directly or email any questions or concerns to our dedicated client-only address.
How do you get paid, and what are the internal fund
management fees?
Each quarter we debit a quarter of our fee directly from the accounts under our management. This withdrawal is listed on your Charles Schwab 1099 Tax Document and on your monthly statements. We also upload your quarterly invoice to a personal secure portal.
Regarding internal expenses, most client portfolios are allocated towards ETFs (exchange-traded funds) which have low expense fees that usually are in the range of 0% to .40%.
Are you a fiduciary?
Yes. As a firm, we take our fiduciary duty to always act in the client’s best interest seriously. Snyder Asset Management is a fee-only firm, meaning we are paid solely on a percentage of Assets Under Management (AUM) and do not receive commissions. Therefore, we have nothing to sell you and our interests are always aligned with yours.
Our firm’s foundation has been built on a commitment to honest and ethical behavior. We recommend investments based on your unique situation and utilize strategies used in our own personal accounts and the accounts of our immediate family members.
